Ezdehar Management, an Egypt-based private equity firm, has completed its acquisition of the remaining 40% stake in Zahran Market from the Zahran family, making it the sole owner of the supermarket chain. This transaction marks the conclusion of Ezdehar’s strategy to take full control over Zahran Market, which they had been incrementally acquiring starting from a majority stake in 2022. The sell-side of the transaction was advised by Compass Capital, with legal support provided by Matouk Bassiouny and Hennawy. Ezdehar was advised legally by ADSERO (Ragy Soliman and Partners). Zahran Market, founded in 1987, is one of Egypt's leading supermarket brands, with a successful modernization strategy implemented by the second generation of the Zahran family starting in 2016. The supermarket chain currently operates 20 branches across Egypt and has recently expanded its footprint to include underserved regions as well as strengthen its presence in Cairo.
