Eyeo Secures €15 Million Seed Funding for Breakthrough Camera Technology

Eyeo, an innovative company in the imaging market, has successfully raised €15 million in a seed funding round. The funding was co-led by imec.xpand and Invest-NL, with participation from Qbic Venture Partners, High-Tech Gründerfonds, and Brabant Development Agency. Eyeo is pioneering a novel image sensor technology that eliminates the limitations of traditional color filter technology, which historically led to significant light loss and size constraints in camera sensors. By introducing a vertical waveguide-based technology, Eyeo aims to enhance light sensitivity and image resolution, offering groundbreaking improvements in camera technology. The €15 million will be used to develop evaluation kits, scale manufacturing, and expand commercial partnerships to bring this new technology to various applications, including smartphones and virtual reality. Eyeo's breakthrough doesn't just enhance existing systems; it sets a new standard in imaging technology, with initial evaluation kits expected within two years. The company is headquartered in Eindhoven, with an R&D office in Leuven.
