Ensign Group Expands Midwest Portfolio with Acquisition of Wisconsin Facilities

The Ensign Group, Inc., a prominent operator in skilled nursing and senior living services, recently announced the acquisition of several facilities in Wisconsin through subsidiaries of its captive real estate arm, Standard Bearer Healthcare REIT, Inc. These acquisitions include Marla Vista Assisted Living, Marla Vista Manor, Carrington Assisted Living, and Carolina Assisted Living, expanding Ensign's operations to 325 healthcare facilities across fourteen states. These facilities, primarily located in Green Bay and Appleton, will be operated by affiliates of The Pennant Group, Inc., under long-term triple net leases. In a separate transaction, Ensign also acquired the real estate and operations of Benedictine Living Community Wausau. Ensign CEO Barry Port highlighted the alignment with Pennant as well as Ensign's continued strategy to expand its foothold in the Midwest. Ensign now owns 128 real estate assets and remains on the lookout for new acquisitions. The transactions became effective on November 1, 2024.
