Eni Acquires 4 Offshore Blocks in Côte d'Ivoire

Eni has signed contracts with Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Mines, Oil and Energy to acquire four new exploration blocks offshore. This expansion consolidates the company's presence in the region, which is aligned with its strategic roadmap following its major discoveries in the Baleine and Calao fields. The blocks, identified as CI-504, CI-526, CI-706, and CI-708, cover an area of roughly 5,720 square kilometers in deepwater. Eni can explore these blocks for up to nine years. The strategic proximity of these blocks to existing discoveries facilitates the potential for further synergies, aiming to bolster Eni's already significant production capacity in Côte d’Ivoire. Currently, Eni produces around 22,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the country and plans major production increases with the upcoming phases of Baleine field development. This acquisition signifies Eni's commitment to enhancing its exploration and production portfolio in West Africa, a key market for the company's growth strategy.
