EMSTEEL Partners with Yellow Door Energy for UAE's Largest Solar Rooftop Project
Deal News | Mar 25, 2025 | Zawya
In a strategic move towards sustainability, EMSTEEL Group, a prominent steel and building materials manufacturer in the UAE, has partnered with Yellow Door Energy to develop the largest industrial solar PV rooftop project in the UAE. This project, with a total capacity of 31.5 megawatt-peak (MWp), will amplify EMSTEEL's decarbonization efforts and support the UAE's Net Zero by 2050 initiative. The installation, comprising rooftop and carport solar panels, will be developed across 40 of EMSTEEL's roofs in Abu Dhabi, generating approximately 50 million kWh of clean electricity annually. The project aims to offset approximately 16,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions per year over the next 25 years. Set for construction in 2025 and commissioning in 2026, Yellow Door Energy will handle financing, building, operations, and maintenance, offering a solar lease model that minimizes upfront costs for EMSTEEL. This initiative is a cornerstone of EMSTEEL's broader decarbonization strategy, which targets a 40% reduction in GHG emissions in its Steel Business Unit and a 30% reduction in its Cement Business Unit by 2030, with net-zero emissions by 2050 as the ultimate goal.
