Energy Infrastructure Partners (EIP), a Swiss fund manager known for investing in megatrends reshaping the energy sector, has increased its stake in Plenitude, reaching a total of 10% ownership. The transaction, initially announced in November and now completed, involved a capital infusion of approximately €209 million, bringing EIP’s total investment to around €800 million when combined with a previous payment of €588 million scheduled for March 2024. The deal confirms an equity value of approximately €8 billion and an enterprise value of over €10 billion post-transaction. Mediobanca acted as the financial advisor for Eni, while Rothschild & Co advised EIP. EIP partner Tim Marahrens expressed confidence in Plenitude's unique business model, integrating renewable generation, retail energy solutions, and large-scale e-mobility, contributing to the ongoing energy transition.
