EDF Renewables and Korea Western Power Unveil Manah 1, Oman's Largest Solar Project

EDF Renewables and Korea Western Power Company have inaugurated Oman’s largest solar power plant, Manah 1, which promises to significantly boost the country's renewable energy capacity. Located 170 kilometers north of Muscat, the 500 MW solar park will contribute to Oman Vision 2040 by powering over 60,000 homes and reducing carbon emissions by 780,000 tonnes annually. The Manah 1 project is owned by Wadi Noor Solar Power Company SAOC, a JV equally owned by EDF and KOWEPO. This landmark project, featuring advanced technologies including bifacial photovoltaic panels and automated cleaning robots, marks a substantial stride in Oman's renewable energy sector. It enhances the total renewable capacity of the country to 1,050 MW, thus supporting its growing energy demand. The plant also exemplifies strong international collaboration, with input from the Omani government, EDF, and KOWEPO, and emphasizes the delivery of sustainable energy solutions, aligning with their global renewable energy goals.
