East Ventures, a prominent private equity firm, has been appointed as one of twenty new partners by SEEDS Capital, the investment arm of Enterprise Singapore, to drive a substantial investment initiative focused on Singapore-based deep tech startups. Under the Startup SG Equity scheme, SEEDS will allocate S$150 million over the next three years with the goal of catalyzing an additional S$300 million through its private sector partners, including East Ventures. This effort targets investments in critical areas such as advanced manufacturing, pharmbio/medtech, agrifood tech, sustainability, spacetech, and quantumtech. The collaboration with East Ventures, renowned for its international networks and investment expertise, is expected to bolster the global expansion efforts of these startups, facilitating their entry into new markets. Notably, East Ventures' connections in Indonesia have already assisted SEEDS investees such as Mesh Bio and AMILI in expanding their operations. Since the inception of the Startup SG Equity scheme, nearly S$3 billion has been invested in over 330 startups, with SEEDS recently increasing the co-investment cap for deep tech startups from S$8 million to S$12 million in a bid to further nurture this burgeoning sector.
