Downing expands solar portfolio for charities with new acquisition

Downing Sustainable Investment (DSI), managed by Downing LLP, has acquired a portfolio of around 2,900 domestic rooftop solar installations across Yorkshire, the East Midlands, and East Anglia. These installations provide electricity to tenants of six housing associations, marking DSIs second major renewable energy investment aimed at benefiting UK charitable institutions. The acquisition builds on the company's prior investment in a 200MW operational onshore wind farm in the Scottish Highlands. DSIs investment strategy focuses on offering charitable institutions access to renewable energy investments, aiming to deliver environmental impact along with stable financial returns. The new solar investment diversifies DSIs portfolio, allowing it further exposure to both wind and solar assets to support the UK's commitment to net-zero emissions while generating returns for charities.
