Denholm to Retire: Scottish National Investment Bank CEO Announces Departure

Al Denholm, CEO of the Scottish National Investment Bank, has announced his intention to retire after a remarkable 40-year career in the investment industry. Joining the Bank in May 2023, Denholm has played a pivotal role in leading the institution through significant growth and development phases. Under his leadership, the Bank achieved phase 1 authorization from the Financial Conduct Authority and expanded its portfolio to 43 businesses and projects, with 785 million GBP in committed investments and 1.4 billion GBP in crowded-in capital. Denholm's tenure has also been marked by high employee engagement scores and impactful investments focused on sustainability and economic growth in Scotland. The Bank's Chairman, Willie Watt, expressed gratitude for Denholm's contributions, highlighting the strong foundations he leaves for future growth. Denholm will stay on for at least six more months to facilitate a smooth leadership transition and will thereafter assume an advisory role until the end of 2026.
