Connexin: Full Fibre Infrastructure Sold to CityFibre

CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, has acquired Connexin’s full fibre infrastructure, marking a significant expansion in its capacity and reach. The acquisition will expand CityFibre's footprint by up to 185,000 premises, which includes existing built network assets, work in progress, and a Project Gigabit contract. Orrick advised Connexin on the sale. Connexin, with a network currently serving 80,000 premises and an additional 20,000 under development, will continue to expand its Internet Service Provider (ISP) and smart home services through a new wholesale agreement with CityFibre. CityFibre, which has been rapidly expanding its network in the UK, currently serves over 4.4 million premises and aims to reach more than 8 million nationwide. This acquisition enhances CityFibre's role in the UK's digital infrastructure space, especially in Hull and East Riding, and further supports high-speed broadband rollout through integration of Connexin’s XGS-PON network. The transaction also marks CityFibre's milestone in securing its tenth Project Gigabit contract, targeting hard-to-reach areas in Nottinghamshire and West Lincolnshire. Connexin, continuing on its trajectory of national expansion, plans to scale its IoT and smart technology offerings, leveraging its strong background in smart infrastructure.
