Collibra Acquires Raito to Expand Data Access Capabilities

Collibra, a Brussels-based data governance platform, has announced the acquisition of Raito, a fellow Brussels-based data access startup. This move is aimed at enhancing Collibra's offerings in managing data access, particularly in the context of AI advancements. Collibra's CEO, Felix Van de Maele, highlighted the limitations of traditional data access management, emphasizing the need for scalable, automated solutions. Raito, founded by former Collibra employees, provides cloud-native data access tools that align with current AI trends. The acquisition reflects a broader industry trend as enterprises adapt their data governance infrastructures to the demands of AI. This strategic acquisition comes amid other similar moves in the industry, like Salesforce's intent to acquire Informatica. Collibra, an early entrant in the data governance sector since 2008, has raised nearly $600 million and works with major enterprises like Heineken, Credit Suisse, and SAP.
