In a strategic move to expand its presence and capabilities, Buchanan Ingersoll Rooney has added 17 lawyers to its team, marking the firm's entry into the Chicago market. This expansion follows the firm's recent acquisition of intellectual property boutique Ratner Prestia, aligning with the firm's growth strategy under the leadership of Jim Newell, who became chair and CEO in May. The new team was primarily sourced from Locke Lord, following the merger of Troutman Pepper and Locke Lord, which led to client conflicts. The addition of these litigators complements the patent prosecution expertise of Ratner Prestia, bolstering Buchanan's IP practice. Buchanan plans further expansion in key areas such as California, Texas, and enhancing its existing offices.
