British Patient Capital, a subsidiary of the British Business Bank, has committed £25 million to the Dementia Discovery Fund 2 (DDF-2), managed by SV Health Investors. This follows a previous investment of £24 million into the original Dementia Discovery Fund (DDF-1). The DDF is a dedicated venture capital fund focusing on innovative therapeutics for dementia, a major global health issue affecting 55 million people worldwide. Since its inception in 2015, DDF has developed a portfolio of 19 promising companies, with 11 assets now in clinical stages and numerous strategic pharma partnerships. With British Patient Capital's new commitment, DDF-2 has reached its target of raising $250 million. This fund aims to build on the decade-long advances in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases to further understand and treat dementia, providing crucial finance for breakthrough first-in-class therapeutics.
