Blackstone and Travelodge Asia Unite for Gangnam Hotel Conversion

Blackstone Real Estate Partners is partnering with Travelodge Asia to acquire and convert an office building in Seoul’s Gangnam district into a select-service hotel. Chris Kim, Blackstone's Head of Real Estate in Korea, emphasizes their strategy of transforming well-located assets as part of their investment theme in travel and leisure. This marks Blackstone's third real estate transaction in South Korea for the year. The building’s strategic location in Gangnam, surrounded by commercial and residential facilities, identifies its potential as a hospitality hub. Marcus Aw from Travelodge Asia highlights the potential for repositioning the asset into a midscale hotel to tap into the growing demand for both leisure and business accommodations in South Korea, partly fueled by the notable increase in foreign arrivals post-COVID. Blackstone is a global real estate investment leader with a diverse portfolio, further asserting its commitment to expanding in the hospitality sector globally.
