Betmate Secures £1.6M Funding to Revolutionize Social Gaming

Liverpool-based social gaming startup Betmate has successfully completed a £1.6 million Series A funding round, led by the newly established London-based Accelerate Ventures. The investment will also benefit Engage Games, Betmate’s B2B arm which focuses on providing white-label, free-to-play solutions. This funding marks Accelerate Ventures' inaugural investment since its establishment in 2023 by Lucas Danson, a former director of Wigan Athletic. Founded by Ryan Lawrence and Declan Dowling in 2020, Betmate offers a people-focused sports betting platform that includes daily fantasy football and sports accumulators. The funding is expected to accelerate Betmate's growth, with plans to enhance their team by recruiting a head of growth and a head of B2B to further develop the business. Dowling emphasized Betmate's mission to transform the gaming landscape with engaging and responsible alternatives to traditional betting. This expansion aims to broaden Engage Games’ reach, allowing businesses to better connect with audiences through customized gameplay solutions.
