ABB, a major player in electrification and automation, has announced the acquisition of Aurora Motors, a global provider of motors for vertical pumps. This acquisition will significantly expand ABB's product portfolio within its NEMA division, reinforcing its status in the global market for industrial electric motors. Aurora Motors, a U.S.-based company, extends its services to 30 countries across various sectors such as agriculture, industrial, and fire protection. Valued at $4 million, Aurora's operations are managed through engineering facilities in Shanghai and a corporate office and distribution center in Hayward, California. No detailed financial terms were disclosed, but the deal is expected to close by the end of 2024. This acquisition aligns with ABB's strategic aim to grow its Motion Business sector profitably and improve its global market reach through enhanced innovations and customer solutions. ABB aims to integrate Aurora's expertise to accelerate growth and set new industry standards, according to Jesse Henson, president of ABB's NEMA division. Conroy Shum, president of Aurora Motors, expressed enthusiasm about the strategic synergy between the two companies. This acquisition and partnership aim to move toward goals of enhanced efficiency and sustainability within industries reliant on NEMA motors.
