Auchan Hungary Acquisition Approved by Competition Authority

In a landmark decision, the Hungarian Competition Authority has approved the acquisition of Auchan Hungary by entrepreneur Dniel Jellinek, specifically through his group of companies. This acquisition aligns with Hungary's broader economic policy of enhancing domestic ownership within key industries, including retail, banking, energy, and telecommunications. The negotiation process, which lasted over three years, culminated in a decision that allows for increased involvement of Jellinek's interests, notably Biery Investments, despite earlier expectations of the Indotek Group's participation.
