Atmos Renewables' First Greenfield BESS Project Secures Financing with White & Case

Global law firm White & Case LLP has successfully advised Atmos Renewables on the project financing for the Merredin Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Western Australia, marking it as Atmos Renewables' first greenfield energy storage project to reach a final investment decision. The project will include a 100 MW battery with a four-hour storage capacity, co-developed with Nomad Energy, and is a critical component in enhancing the security of supply within the Western Australian Electricity Market. The financing was achieved efficiently by leveraging Atmos Renewables’ existing portfolio financing structure. Once completed, this project will be the first in Western Australia under the Australian Government's Capacity Investment Scheme. Atmos Renewables is owned entirely by infrastructure funds managed by Igneo Infrastructure Partners. The legal advisory was orchestrated by White & Case partner Joel Rennie and supported by a team spanning Sydney and Melbourne.
