The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has entered into a loan agreement with the Government of Thailand to enhance infrastructure connectivity in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Valued at $68.74 million, the loan will extend critical road access to U-Tapao International Airport by developing a 1.92 km extension of Intercity Motorway No. 7 and expanding a 5.65 km section of National Highway No. 3. These developments aim not only to bolster connectivity but also to support Thailand's transition to low-carbon transport. Green construction practices such as green cement and onsite facilities with solar panels will be used. The initiative is part of ADB's longstanding financial relationship with Thailand, having contributed $7.4 billion from 1968 to 2024 in sectors like energy, transport, and agriculture. ADB, a prominent development bank in Asia, works with regional members to promote sustainable growth.
