IBM has announced its intention to acquire Applications Software Technology LLC (AST), a global consultancy specializing in Oracle Cloud Applications. The acquisition aims to enhance IBM's capabilities in public sector digital transformations, particularly in North America, the UK, and Ireland. AST is recognized for its significant expertise in Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) and related Oracle technologies, including Human Capital Management and Enterprise Performance Management. The move aligns with IBM's strategy to expand its Oracle Cloud solution offerings, building on its 2024 acquisition of another Oracle consultancy, Accelalpha. Applications Software Technology, which serves clients in the public sector as well as various commercial industries, will join IBM Consulting upon completion of the acquisition. The transaction is anticipated to close in the first quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approval.
