Amazon to Acquire Direct Stake in Valu

Amazon has exercised its option to acquire a direct equity stake in U Consumer Finance (Valu), a subsidiary of EFG Holding. This option was based on an agreement from May 2022, where Amazon acquired $10 million of EFG Holding's global depository receipts, which could be converted into a stake in Valu. Upon completion, Amazon will hold 3.95% of Valu's shares. The transaction will occur during Valu's first trading session on the Egyptian Exchange with a share price of EGP 6.04 via a block trade. This acquisition is notable as Valu plans to commence trading its shares on the EGX on June 23, 2025. EFG Hermes acted as the sole financial advisor for this transaction.
