Alstom Secures €720M Tender to Modernize Bulgarian Railways

Alstom Transport, a French multinational company specializing in rail transport, secured a €720 million contract with the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport and Communications. The contract involves the supply of 35 interregional electric trains along with 15 years of maintenance services, marking Bulgaria's first procurement of electric interregional rolling stock in 20 years. Schoenherr, a notable advisory firm, represented Alstom as the consortium lead on this significant tender. The initiative is expected to modernize Bulgaria’s national rail services by enhancing passenger comfort, improving safety, and reducing carbon emissions. Alstom will provide Coradia Stream trains, which feature modern amenities and energy-efficient technologies, to fulfill this contract. Previously, Schoenherr also advised Alstom on consulting agreements for the Belgrade Metro Project. This development stands as a pivotal moment in Bulgaria’s transportation infrastructure upgrades.
