Aliplast Acquires Gurit Italia's PET Recycling Site for Enhanced Capacity

In a strategic move to expand its capabilities in the recycled PET market, Aliplast, a subsidiary of Gruppo Hera and a leader in plastics regeneration, has acquired Gurit Italia's PET recycling operations based in Carmignano di Brenta. This acquisition, designed to integrate new PET grinding, washing, and extrusion lines suitable for food contact and other consumer products, aligns with Aliplast's broader strategy to meet the escalating demand for recycled PET. This demand surge is influenced by evolving regulatory frameworks, such as Italy's DL 196/21 and the European PPWR regulation, mandating increased use of recycled materials in packaging. The site acquisition is expected to boost Aliplast's production capacity by 15,000 tons annually and will optimize its logistics by utilizing the acquired storage facilities. Michele Petrone, CEO of Aliplast, underscores this acquisition as part of their industrial plan focused on resource regeneration, enhancing both the capacity and quality of production, while also expanding the customer base. This acquisition is anticipated to fortify Aliplast's position in the circular economy, characterized by the company's integrated platform across Europe.
