Al Watania for Industries teams up with China’s DHX for Saudi Arabia's tinplate production

Al Watania for Industries and China’s Donghexin Group have announced a strategic joint venture to establish Saudi Arabia's inaugural tinplate manufacturing facility. Revealed at the Future Minerals Forum under the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources’ patronage, this agreement aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s economic diversification objective by localizing the production of crucial metal packaging components. It envisions the production of 400,000 metric tons of tinplate annually in Ras Al-Khair Industrial City, catering to domestic demand while aspiring to position Saudi Arabia as a regional tinplate exporter. The collaboration combines advanced technical capabilities and aims to employ over 500 local individuals, fortifying the industrial supply chain, boosting exports, and reducing import reliance. Asserting a competitive edge globally, the facility is projected to commence operations by early 2027, embarking upon a landmark stride in intelligent Saudi manufacturing and economic resilience.
