ACER Bologna Steps Up Social Housing with €12 Million Boost

In an effort to address Italy's significant housing challenges, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) has provided a €12 million investment for the Azienda Casa Emilia-Romagna (ACER) in Bologna. This project will impact approximately 200 homes in Bologna and Imola, focusing on improvements such as major maintenance, seismic upgrades, energy efficiency, and the removal of architectural barriers. Italy faces a pressing issue with over three million individuals committing more than 40% of their income to housing, while the nation's social housing makes up a mere 2.4% of total housing units. This funding is part of a broader initiative under the National Complementary Plan and the Metro Plus and Southern Medium-Sized Cities National Programme to expand and enhance the country's public housing sector. The upgrades aim to improve living conditions significantly, ensure safer and more accessible homes, and aid in the socio-economic regeneration of urban areas. This collaborative effort between public bodies illustrates a commitment to making housing more equitable and sustainable.
